    Rollup funds

    Everybody's doing them. There was even a rumor that this was the next scheme for Marc Pincus of Tribe, though he says that's far off the mark. Anyway, here are a few names I've heard. I'll add to the list as you send in tips.

    Demand MediaRichard Rosenblatt's new vehicle raised $100m in September, and has already acquired some of the offcuts from his former company, which incubated MySpace.

    General AtlanticMerrillBig private equity firm and investment bank, both rumored to be setting up rollup vehicles.

    Ross LevinsohnRoss Levinsohn hasn't said much about the investment fund he's putting together, but chances are he'll want to buy existing assets rather than fund new ventures from scratch.

    Images-3-4Bob Pittman's Pilot Group has been making small internet acquisitions since 2003, when it took control of Daily Candy. The latest deal I know about is its investment in Stereogum, the music blog.

    internet brandsHolding Company Internet Brands owns a wide array of properties from Cars.com to Wikitravel. It's aggressively in the market for new acquisitions, ahead of a hoped-for public offering next year.
