One management team in worse shape than Yahoo's right now: CNET's.
Shelby Bonnie, the tech news company's long-time CEO, had to leave as a result of options scam which enriched him but made the company restate earnings. Of divisional heads, Suzie Reider fled to Youtube, and Vince Broady to Yahoo. Now, we're hearing from sources inside CNET that the company's COO is out. Barry Briggs, who ran ad sales and other functions, was passed over for the CEO position; we expect his departure to be announced next week. Briggs wasn't a superstar, but CNET can do without additional turnover this year. It's now more likely that CNET, which has lost audience to unorthodox competitors, such as blogs and social news sites, will be sold off piecemeal, rather than to a single buyer. Says an observer. "It's looking like a full on trainwreck."
