A chance to work with one of the hottest internet ventures around! Myspace, the incredibly popular social network, is looking for no fewer than five Flash developers. They'd be working closely, the ad says, with Tom — the founder, who's also, by default, each new Myspace user's first friend. Sounds like a great opportunity, no? Except that Myspace's hiring to replace developers who left the company, at least in part, frustrated at the power of advertising sales, the unwillingness to experiment, and the confusion of a rapidly growing business. Our informant's take:
There is serious internal conflict going on at MySpace. The three flash developers up and left the company. All because of how MySpace will only release features IF there's an advertising campaign associated with it. There is zero creativity or innovation allowed at MySpace. MySpace is hiring SO many people, that new faces pop up daily, and no one has ANY idea what they work on. The site is constantly broken, and there are no developers that care.
